What is Active Minds?

​​We are a Community Interest Group that aims to support the local community with health and wellbeing activities to promote positive mental and physical health


Who do you help?

Anyone and everyone.  We run programmes in partnership with schools, undertake 1:1 sessions and manage corporate programmes too.  We have a flexible approach based on our communities needs.

What do the groups actually do?

We run non contact boxing & martial art fitness sessions.  These sessions are designed to be fun and focused on improving our wellbeing and mental health.

Do I need to bring equipment?

A drink and a towel are a great start.  If you have any boxing gloves and hand wraps, then bring them along too.

​

Do I need to be suffering with Mental Health to participate?

No - 1 in 4 of us will be experiencing a mental health challenge at any time - sometimes we may not be fully aware of what is happening.  Active Minds aims to offer support through training and talking.

I’m just feeling a bit fed up, can I still join in?

Absolutely, addressing any issues early is perfect.  Its always better to do something rather than suffer in silence.

How will this help me?

Every single day there is more and more research about the benefits of exercise in the battle against Mental Illness.  Active Minds allows you to participate in a safe and confidential way that provides you with support.

I don’t want to talk about my condition, is that OK?

100% No one is forced to share anything in the sessions.  Our main aim is to train and have some fun.  Anything shared is treated in confidence and there is no judgment made.
